Reports indicate that Tesla owners’ use of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature in the United States is quite limited. According to brief research, around 19–20% of Tesla owners have purchased this technology, but the active user rate is said to be only about 4%. These figures are based not on official sources, but on reports from media outlets such as Inside EV and independent researchers.
Following the disbandment of the Dojo team, which was responsible for developing technology for FSD, and the departure of its engineers, Tesla announced that it would now use NVIDIA chips. Despite the company’s strong technical capabilities, it is unknown why it moved away from developing its own chips. While Tesla continues its robotaxi and FSD plans, how it intends to achieve these goals remains a subject of curiosity.
