The concept of Software Defined Vehicles (SDV) started with Tesla, followed by rapid development from Chinese brands. Today, Daimler stands out in Europe as the only manufacturer that has come close with its CLA model.
High-quality software combined with advanced chips (preferably developed in-house) provides a significant advantage. As the industry shifts dramatically, traditional automakers that lack such capabilities are increasingly forming partnerships with tech companies—risking a future where they may merely become component suppliers.
The best example is Huawei: despite having no car manufacturing plant of its own, it produces vehicles through four different manufacturers. This reflects how dramatically the industry is evolving.
