Record-Breaking Internet Speed from Japan: 1.02 Petabit/s

ree

A development that pushes the boundaries of digitalization took place in Japan in 2025. In an experiment conducted by NTT, an internet speed of 1.02 petabits per second (Pbit/s) was achieved. This corresponds to a staggering 1,020,000,000 megabits per second (Mb/s).

When evaluated comparatively, this experimental success paints a striking picture. The internet speed Japan reached under laboratory conditions is approximately 24 million times faster than the average fixed internet speed in Turkey. Based on current data, Japan is about 6 times faster than Turkey in fixed broadband and 1.3 times faster in mobile internet.

This result is not only a demonstration of technological capability but also a clear indicator of the direction the digital future is heading.

Note: This speed has been tested under laboratory conditions and is not yet available commercially. However, the experiment reveals the potential future capacity of fiber internet infrastructure.
