China’s Rapid Rise in Automotive Exports (2026)

Between 2020 and 2026, China significantly increased its production capacity, reaching approximately 30 million units annually and accounting for nearly one-third of global automotive production.
In January–February 2026, total exports reached USD 657 billion, marking a 22% year-on-year increase. During the same period, vehicle exports rose to 1.532 million units (+58%), while export value increased by 63.1%.
In February alone, 736,000 vehicles were exported. Around six years ago, China exported about 1 million vehicles annually; today, it exceeds that figure within just two months.
