I evaluated the global automotive industry across 13 different dimensions.
The results are quite unsettling for many established manufacturers.
🇨🇳 China clearly dominates in cost, battery technology, and software user experience (UX). However, its weakest areas are precisely those that should be its primary focus.
🇪🇺 Europe leads in brand trust, after-sales services, and regulatory alignment. However, it is effectively watching from the sidelines when it comes to autonomous driving.
🇺🇸 Tesla set the software benchmark in 2021, but has made little to no progress since then. Between 2028 and 2030, other players are expected to catch up.
🇯🇵 Japan remains unmatched in reliability. This aspect, however, is not discussed nearly enough.
