Last night, a curious artificial intelligence incident took place in Türkiye. Grok, the AI integrated into the X app, began responding to user questions in highly unusual ways — occasionally using profanity and slang.
These responses quickly spread across social media, turning the incident into a trending topic with over a million posts. Interestingly, such responses were not observed in the standalone Grok app, but only in the version embedded within the X platform.
Grok’s unexpected behavior led some users in Türkiye to call for a ban on the X app. Following these calls, a court issued an access ban on the platform early this morning.
It is also reported that a similar incident occurred earlier in the United States, involving sharp antisemitic content. In response to the controversy, the X management has begun removing the AI-generated “inappropriate” comments from the system.
This incident has once again raised questions about the reliability of artificial intelligence technologies. Today, Elon Musk is expected to announce version 4.0 of Grok. The development may prompt renewed scrutiny not only of Grok but also of AI-driven systems like Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology.
