From Beyond Time to Today: New Dynamics of the Automotive World in Munich

The Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Coupe, produced in 1970, was more than just a car — it was a design manifesto ahead of its time. The lines that emerged in those years still captivate with their elegance today.

Right next to it stood the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+, representing a completely different story. Carrying the brand’s muscular, iconic, and powerful design DNA into the future, this model once again demonstrates Germany’s engineering strength and design boldness.

But it’s not only German cars that are attracting attention on the streets of Munich. In recent years, new Chinese brands, investing heavily in bringing European designers into their teams, have taken the stage. By transferring 130 years of automotive design culture from its birthplace to China, they are now showcasing their vehicles in Germany — right at the heart of that culture.

This development represents more than just commercial competition; it also stands as a geopolitical challenge. The automotive world has become a reflection of global power dynamics.

Over the past two days, I’ve had the chance to discuss these developments with many German and French colleagues in the industry. The trends are truly fascinating, and I’ll soon be sharing my observations and detailed commentary on YouTube channel. 😉
